Safeguarding Policy

Braw Talent CIC Child Safeguarding Policy

Purpose

Safeguarding involves a range of activities aimed at promoting the individual’s fundamental right to be safe. These include creating and maintaining safe environments for all, implementing procedures should something go wrong, and providing support for everyone involved. Braw Talent works with children and young people in various settings, including schools and community settings.

The purpose of this policy:

  • To protect children and young people who attend any sessions conducted by Braw Talent.
  • To provide staff with overarching principles that guide our approach to safeguarding and child protection.

Our Safeguarding Responsibilities

Braw Talent recognises its responsibility to safeguard all children, young people, and adults at risk:

  • All children, regardless of gender, ethnicity, age, religious belief, sexual orientation, identity, or ability, have a right to equal protection from all forms of harm or abuse.
  • We believe that a child or young person should never experience abuse of any kind, and we have a responsibility to promote their welfare and ensure their safety.
  • Some children are additionally vulnerable due to factors such as previous experiences, their level of dependency, communication needs, or other issues.
  • We recognise that working in partnership with children, young people, their parents, carers, and other agencies is essential in promoting their welfare.

Braw Talent is fully committed to this policy and to developing effective procedures to ensure its successful implementation.

Prevention and Reporting of Abuse

A child could be at risk from physical abuse, physical neglect, sexual abuse, or emotional abuse. It is the duty of each person involved with Braw Talent to help prevent the abuse of children and respond to concerns about their well-being. Any abuse disclosed, discovered, or suspected will be reported following our procedures, and we will cooperate fully with any statutory investigation into suspected abuse linked with the charity.

  • Safer Recruitment, Support, and Supervision of Workers
Braw Talent will exercise proper care in selecting and appointing those working with children, whether paid or voluntary. All workers will receive appropriate training, support, and supervision to promote the safety of children, as detailed in our Recruitment and Selection Policy.

  • Respecting Children and Adults at Risk
The organisation will adopt a code of conduct for all individuals working with children to ensure that all children are shown due respect (cf. Staff Code of Conduct).

  • Safer Working Practices
Braw Talent is committed to providing an environment that is as safe as possible for children. We will adopt working practices that promote their safety and well-being (cf. Health & Safety Policy, E-safety Policy, Lone Working Policy).

  • A Safer Community
Braw Talent is committed to the prevention of bullying and will maintain an anti-bullying environment. We have policies and procedures in place to address bullying effectively. Additionally, effective complaints and whistleblowing measures are in place, allowing concerns to be reported safely and in confidence.

  • Online Safety
As digital interactions have increased, Braw Talent is committed to safeguarding children in online spaces. Our E-safety Policy outlines procedures for managing online risks, ensuring secure and supervised digital environments for all interactions.

  • Confidentiality and Data Protection
