Storytelling through animation

Different Planets

Summary

Braw Talent partnered with Dechomai to create an animated video that highlights the key findings from the Access Report, a research project investigating the barriers ethnic minority social entrepreneurs in Scotland face when seeking investment. The research, conducted by Dechomai in collaboration with Firstport and Social Investment Scotland (SIS), was supported by Scottish Enterprise through the Scottish Government’s Ecosystem Fund.

The Access Report revealed significant barriers preventing ethnic minority social entrepreneurs from securing investment. Dechomai sought an engaging and accessible way to communicate these findings to a broad audience—including social entrepreneurs, investors, and policymakers—to drive positive change in Scotland’s investment landscape.

Our Approach

Messaging & Script Development – Collaborating with Dechomai to identify key takeaways and ensure the script reflected the lived experiences of ethnic minority social entrepreneurs.

Visual Design & Animation – Creating a dynamic and engaging animation that visually represented the challenges, data, and recommendations outlined in the report.

Voiceover & Production – Recording and integrating voiceovers to ensure accessibility and clarity, bringing the narrative to life.

Launch

The animated video was used as a key communication tool at a series of roundtable events in Edinburgh and Glasgow, attended by investors, entrepreneurs, academics, and social enterprise support providers. By distilling complex research findings into a digestible and engaging format, the animation helped:

  • Increase awareness of the barriers faced by ethnic minority social entrepreneurs.

  • Highlight the need for more inclusive and tailored investment solutions.

  • Spark conversations and encourage stakeholders to take action on the report’s recommendations.

Through the power of animation, Braw Talent helped Dechomai translate critical research into an accessible, engaging, and impactful resource. By amplifying the voices of ethnic minority social entrepreneurs and highlighting the need for systemic change, this project contributes to a more inclusive and supportive entrepreneurial ecosystem in Scotland.

You could really tell it was us that fed into it, people weren’t speaking for us, they were letting us do the talking.
